Welcome to the streamlined version of our monthly small group luncheons:
Each month our coordinator Dottie Carlson will announce the date and restaurant, and all freethinking women who would like to attend can reserve a spot by contacting Dottie at dlcarlson52@gmail.com or text/call 708-308-0948. She will advise the restaurant of the number and we will sit at tables of 4-6 to have that small group experience. And if you find out after making a reservation that you can’t make it, please let Dottie know.
-RESTAURANT REVIEW-
BILL’S FOOD FOR THOUGHT
By Bill Sullivan
Southern Pig & Cattle
Fifteen of the Freethinkers Dining Out Together (DOT) group visited the Southern Pig & Cattle location on SR- 200 (Sorry, Bob Z, not the one by you!) and it appeared that everyone enjoyed their meals. There were a couple of hiccups—they weren't ready for us when we arrived and were unable to seat us for 15 minutes or so; and they claimed not to have a beverage menu and expected diners to pick from a long list rattled off by the server. Our server suggested that I ask for something and he would tell me if they had it. The food was indeed tender and delicious, and just about all the dinners arrived together. The BBQ sauces were tasty, but decanting them from bottles at the table seemed a little odd to me... maybe what 'Southern' indicates? The salad bar and soups were quite good. While the beverage issue is a deal breaker for me, this would be a great take-out source. The funniest part of the dinner was the line of Freethinkers at the self-serve ice cream cone machine—more than a few of us went back for seconds! All Freethinkers are welcome at our Secular Lunches and DOT Dinners. Hope to see you there soon.
